Troop 628 was established in May of 1974.

Father Dominick Schiraldi, the founding Pastor of Saint Dominic's Church, wanted Scouting to be a part of his parish family. He gathered together some dedicated volunteers who put together a Scouting program that is now second to none

Over the last twenty-six years Troop 628 has brought a truly successful Scouting Program to close to a thousand boys from the surrounding areas.

A solid Advancement Program is one of the keys to Troop 628's success. We are extremely proud of our program, which has produced thirty-one ( 31 ) EAGLE SCOUTS to date !

Troop 628 has also had an extremely active Camping / Travel Program. There are weekend Camping Trips approximately every six weeks and we have not missed our week at Ten Mile River Scout Camp, every summer for the last twenty-five years.

Adding to this well-rounded program is our Annual Winter Bus Trip. Troop 628 has traveled to such places as; Toronto, Canada; Montreal, Canada; Lake Placid, New York; Boston, Mass.; Williamsburg, Virginia; Gettysburg, Pa.; Cooperstown, New York; Washington, D.C..

Troop 628's success throughout the years can only be attributed to the solid support given by Saint Dominic's Church and the dedicated work of our Troop Leadership.
